CREATIVE PROCESS
Beverley works with any type and any size, domestic and infertile eggshell, but never uses eggshells from protected or native birds, with the exception of emu eggs, which come from emu farms and are infertile.
Shells include finch, quail, bantam, turkey, duck, goose, rhea, emu and ostrich.
Each egg is blown, cleaned, and sterilized, before being painted, then sealed. Many hours and days, go into the process before commencing to decorate. Some complicated designs are drawn on paper before attempting to draw on the eggshell.
Only quality materials are used in her work, including gold plating, finest strung and no-hole pearls, along with Swarovski crystals, rhinestones, and rhinestone chain.
Many of the figurines are handmade or molded.
Tools used consist of:- hand held blades, Dremel Motor tool, Turbiflex, Ozito, and Air Tool.
Dust box, goggles and mask are used, as the egg dust is very harmful to our lungs.
CARING FOR YOUR EGGSHELL PIECE:
Treat your eggshell piece as you would fine china. Keep it out of harm's way, inside a glass cabinet; under a glass dome. Beverley may have a dome to suit.
Speak to Beverley for further ‘care’ instructions.
